Public sector experience and responsibilities
Rob joined the Office of the Auditor General in 2012 and was promoted to the position of Assistant Auditor General in 2013. Prior to joining the office, Rob worked 18 years for a large international accounting firm with a primary focus on auditing public and private entities, not-for-profit organizations and local government. Rob also worked occasionally as an agent for the Office managing one of the Office’s large post-secondary institution audits.
In 2012, Rob was the principal on the audits of government departments and agencies including Agriculture Financial Services Corporation, Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), Alberta Social Housing Corporation, the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development and Municipal Affairs, and a number of post-secondary institutions.
His current audit oversight responsibilities include the ministries of:
- Advanced Education—includes 20 publicly funded universities, colleges and technical institutes
- Economic Development and Trade—includes the Alberta Innovates Corporation and Alberta Enterprise Corporation
- Indigenous Relations
- Labour—includes the Workers’ Compensation Board
Rob previously provided audit oversight responsibility for the Ministry of International and Intergovernmental Relations.
Rob received a Bachelor of Commerce degree with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1994. He became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 1998.
