Report of the Auditor General of Alberta
to be Released on Monday, November 4

October 31, 2013 —The Report of the Auditor General of Alberta—October 2013 will be made public once the Chair of the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices tables it during the Monday, November 4, 2013 sitting of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The report will include the results of the following:

Stand-alone systems auditing—new audit

  • Health and Alberta Health Services—Infection Prevention and Control at Alberta Hospitals

Stand-alone systems auditing—follow-up audits

  • Agriculture and Rural Development, Health and Alberta Health Services—Provincial
    Food Safety
  • Energy—Royalty Review Systems
  • Health—Select Electronic Health Record Processes

Financial statements and performance measures audits

  • The office audits 150 government departments, boards, agencies, commissions and related organizations. The results from this work are included in the report.

Report Release Protocol

The protocol for release of an auditor general’s report requires that Members of the Legislative Assembly be the first to view the report. After tabling, copies of the report will be distributed in the Assembly. Immediately following this distribution, the report will be posted on the office’s website ( and hard copies will be available to media via the OAG Edmonton office and the Office of the Speaker.

Media Availability

Mr. Saher will be available to brief media on the contents of the report and answer questions on Monday, November 4 at 4 p.m. The media briefing will be held at 9925 – 109 Street (7th floor classroom), Edmonton, Alberta.

Media representatives unable to attend can participate by dialing 1-888-231-8189, conference ID 95131752. You will be greeted by a conference operator who will ask you for the conference ID, your name, affiliation and phone number. To ask a question, press *1. To exit the question queue, press #. All questions and responses will be heard by all participants. Reporters are encouraged to dial in 15 minutes early to ensure participation. One-on-one interviews may be accommodated after the teleconference if time permits. These should be booked in advance by contacting the office’s Communications Director.

MLAs and government staff who are interested in listening to the briefing as it occurs are asked to contact OAG Communications in advance to obtain a separate teleconference number and conference ID. Do not use the media line.
