Report of the Auditor General of Alberta Expected to be Released on Monday, March 12, 2012

MARCH 9, 2012 — The Report of the Auditor General of Alberta—March 2012 will be made public when the Chair of the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices tables it during the Monday, March 12, 2012 sitting of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

This report is a stand-alone report on the Office’s findings from our most recent financial statements audits of Grant MacEwan University, Mount Royal University, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and all public colleges. Our November 2011 Report (page 63) included the results from our audits of Athabasca University, University of Alberta, University of Calgary and University of Lethbridge.

Report release protocol

The protocol for release of an Auditor General’s report requires that Members of the Legislative Assembly be the first to view the report. Immediately following tabling in the Legislative Assembly (expected by 3 PM), the report will be posted on the Office’s website (www.oag.ab.ca) and copies will be available to media at our Edmonton office. Proceedings of the Legislative Assembly can be monitored through Assembly Online at http://assemblyonline.assembly.ab.ca.

Media Availability

Pending confirmation of tabling of the report, Merwan Saher, FCA, Auditor General, will be available to speak with media representatives in his office, either in person or by telephone after tabling. Please note that this is not a news conference. Media interviews will be coordinated by the Office’s Communications Director.
