JULY 13, 2016 – Auditor General Merwan Saher and Child and Youth Advocate Del Graff will release two independent reports on the Department of Human Services’ delivery of child and family services programs to Indigenous children in Alberta. The auditor general’s report focuses on the systems within the Department of Human Services and the department’s ability to deliver adequate child and family services to Indigenous children in Alberta. The child and youth advocate’s report discusses the impact on Indigenous children and families who receive assistance under these programs. We see these two independent reports as complementary.
Both reports from the two legislative officers will be made available on Tuesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. via the offices’ respective websites (www.oag.ab.ca
Mr. Saher and Mr. Graff will brief media and be available to answer questions about their independent reports at a news conference in the afternoon.
